If you're tired of sitting in waiting rooms, or if your schedule is just too hectic, The Doctor on call's telemedicine service is a simple, affordable complement to your everyday healthcare needs. The Doctor on call's telemedicine service allows consumers to get physician care and information when they need it most—now. By linking patients and physicians online or by phone, The Doctor on call makes healthcare services both convenient and cost-effective. From our intuitive scheduling and consultation interface to our autosynchronization with your Electronic Health Records, we've built a healthcare delivery system that's focused on access, affordability and convenience.
The Doctor on call provides access to physicians for the treatment of non-emergent, common conditions involving routine primary care. Specific examples include allergies, throat infections, respiratory infections, gastroenteritis and many other every day ailments. Should a member present a case that requires further examination, the consulting physician may recommend that the patient see a primary care physician.
The Doctor on call connects you and your family with U.S. based, licensed physicians who can evaluate and diagnose minor medical problems. If deemed appropriate by the consulting physician, medication may also be prescribed. Members can connect with a physician from their home, office, hotel room or on the road. Accessing quality care has never been more convenient or affordable.
With physician consultations a mere phone call or mouse-click away, you and your family can enjoy ultimate peace of mind. All The Doctor on call services maintain patient confidentiality and conform to HIPAA guidelines.
If you have a medical question that only a doctor can answer, we offer the convenience of on-demand access to physicians for general advice and recommendations regarding a range of routine medical conditions.
For in-depth consultations, including prescription requests or refills, we offer anytime access to physicians over the phone. All you have to do is schedule an appointment online or by phone. Our user-friendly patient dashboard gives you all the tools you need to schedule an appointment in minutes.
Members are required to complete a comprehensive medical history questionnaire prior to participating in a diagnostic consultation. The questionnaire, similar to the information provided during an initial physician visit, becomes a permanent part of the member's electronic medical record and is available to be updated by the member at any time. Prior to every diagnostic medical consultation, the automated system will ask the member if there are any changes or updates to the medical history on file.
Live video consultations are the most effective way to diagnose and treat illnesses from a distance. That's why The Doctor on call has made them an integral part of our telemedicine platform. Our platform combines high quality video, advanced audio and secure data transmission to effectively simulate in-person consultations.
Our Electronic Health Record system is a powerful, HIPAA compliant feature that centralizes and simplifies your healthcare management. Before consulting with a physician, we suggest that our members complete a comprehensive health history profile. The information submitted to each profile is secure and confidential, and is automatically filed as a permanent part of your Electronic Health Record and is available to be updated at any time.
For each and every one of your consultations, the doctor's notes (including diagnosis, treatments and prescriptions) and follow-up discussions will be recorded and saved to our Electronic Health Record online. This record can be shared with your primary care physician, ensuring proper documentation, transferability and continuity of care. Each time you log in, you'll have complete access to detailed records of every physician encounter you've ever had on our site.
Network Physicians providing medical consultations for members may offer prescriptions* at their discretion for a wide range of products that deliver direct medicinal value. These include, but are not limited to, drug classes such as antibiotics and antihistamines. Convenience prescriptions for maintenance medicines may also be obtained in cases where a member is in transition to a new insurance plan or doctor.
In the event a physician does prescribe medication, he/she will usually limit the supply to no more than thirty days. Patients with chronic illnesses should visit their primary care physicians or other specialists for extended care. The Doctor on call’s network physicians do not issue prescriptions for substances regulated by the DEA, those used for a non-therapeutic purpose and/or those substances which may be harmful (potential for abuse or addiction).
The following list includes some of the common conditions that can be diagnosed by our physicians via phone or email.
*There is no guarantee that a prescription will be issued on any medical consultation and prescriptions will only be issued if the physician is able to gather the appropriate information to accurately diagnose and treat a given condition. Physicians will refer patients to their primary care physician or appropriate level of care when indicated.
